Meeting Windrush in Handsworth

Mrs. McGhie-Belgrave MBE presents ‘Journey from Paradise to Reality’ at Handsworth Library 11am to 1pm on Saturday 24th June for Windrush 75, part of ‘Meeting Windrush project – Shades of Black in partnership with People’s Heritage Co-operative.

‘From Paradise to Reality’ was a ‘Millennium Project’, through which I met Mrs McGhie-Belgrave MBE in 1999. The book from the project was published well before the first official ‘Windrush Day’ in 2017, marking increasing recognition of the contribution made by the ‘Windrush Generation’, and outrage at the way British citizens from ‘the Colonies’ have been, and still are treated, the ‘Windrush scandal’ being just one of the more recent injustices.
