Hear Here, Ophelia

Great to be working with Everything to Everybody, Friction Arts, Library of Birmingham funded by Arts Council and Heritage Lottery, thanks to National Lottery players. We’ve started arts, performance & archive workshops with women & girls, exploring creative story sharing of the complexities of emotional agency in today’s worlds. The workshops will culminate in a range of unique performances, sharings and exhibitions across Birmingham and at the Library of Birmingham.

We will be working with extraordinary artists Joanne Tremarco from Foolsize Theatre, and Maral Mamaghanizade of Deaf Explorer and the amazing Friction team, along with some extraordinary women from across Birmingham and Solihull we are just starting to get to know.

Hear here is a creative programme of arts/wellbeing workshops with & for 18(+) groups of diverse women 14-70yrs across Birmingham and Solihull, to December 2023; culminating in 6 distinct sharing sessions including performance, exhibitions in community venues and the library of B’ham (LoB). Live and online audiences.

Through the prism of Shakespeare’s Ophelia, we explore themes that affect and increase women’s vulnerability; share stories of challenging adversity and celebrate women: increasing visibility through our events and creative legacies in LoB archives. We will be exploring with craft, wellbeing activities, poetry, performance, photography/film, oral histories, capturing stories, collecting, collating personal/community stories of inspiring women for our city and our archives.
