Book Marks in film. Being part of our library stories

Come to our FREE screening and sharing events showcasing “Book Marks”. Over the past couple of months, our team have been talking to people in Druid’s Heath, Selly Oak, and Stirchley Libraries, making dozens of poems and fifty insightful interviews from hundreds of conversations with library users.

The heart of this project, the deep connection between Birmingham and its libraries, has been beautifully captured in a film that we can’t wait to share with you. Join us for one of the following screenings – no booking is necessary, just mark your calendars and come along!

  • Thursday 22 May – Druid’s Heath Library – 2:30pm
  • Saturday 24 May – Selly Oak Library – 10:30am
  • Saturday 24 May – Stirchley Library – 2:30pm
  • Saturday 24 May – Stirchley Baths (in collaboration with Stirchley Open Cinema) – 6:30pm

Expect a beautifully crafted film, poetry, photography, question and answer session with participants and the PHC team. The poems have been crafted by participants working with our wonderful poets-in-residence, Hayley FrancesBradley Taylor and Ruben Whitter. These poems beautifully illustrate the vital role that free libraries play within our community. Explore some of their inspiring work here:
