About us
Our aims:
- To promote and raise awareness of peoples heritage
- To contribute to community cohesion and increase understanding of our diverse heritage
- To support our members to more effectively work with people to share our culture and heritage
- To develop a network of supportive members, developing their practice by promoting collaborative work, increasing participation in exploring and interpreting Birmingham’s heritage through an open membership policy
Our Constitution was formally adopted at our Inaugural General Meeting 25th April 2014 and can be viewed here.
Membership is £20 every two years and helps contribute towards our core funding. Please contact us for more information for how to contribute.
We meet regularly, which is a great opportunity to share ideas, meet other practitioners and support each other in the work we do.
Who we are
People’s Heritage Co-operative is a constituted cooperative since 2014 and a member of Cooperatives West Midlands. People’s Heritage Co-operative’s members have extensive experience working on community heritage projects through our own funded projects and in partnership.
Our members include archivists, digitisation specialists, oral historians, creative practitioners, archive outreach experts, academic staff and researchers interested in archives. We are members of SARA – Schools Archives and Records Association. We initiated and manage Paganel School Archives, the first and only ARCHON registered repository Archive located within a State Primary School.
We promote and raise awareness of peoples heritage to contribute to community cohesion and increase understanding of our diverse heritage. We support our members to more effectively work with people to share our culture and heritage, developing their practice by promoting collaborative work, increasing participation in exploring and interpreting Birmingham’s heritage.
If you wish to be part of our network you can join our Google Group here to receive regular post updates and be able to contact other members directly.
